ANA is excited to welcome Nick DenBesten, Ph.D.!

Dr. DenBesten earned a PH.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology from Nova Southern University. He pursued neuropsychology in college, as he was always intrigued by the brain and how it works. Born and raised in Michigan, he always knew he wanted to stay in the Midwest, to be close to his family and the Great Lakes! He may live in the Buckeye State but has maintained his loyalty to the team up North and remains an avid Michigan fan.

A clinical neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with expertise in how behavior and skills are related to brain structures and systems. Neuropsychological evaluations are requested specifically to help your doctors and other professionals understand how the different areas of the brain are working.

Testing can identify weaknesses in specific areas. For example, testing can help determine whether memory changes are normal age-related changes or if they reflect a neurological disorder. Testing might also be used to identify problems related to medical conditions that can affect memory and thinking, such as diabetes, metabolic or infectious diseases or alcoholism.

We are so thankful to have Dr. DenBesten as part of our team at ANA - he has been such a positive asset to our team, and we love having him around... unless he is pulling one of his office pranks on us!

If you have any Neuropsychology concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your primary care provider and request a referral to Dr DenBesten - he is currently accepting new patients!

Referrals can be faxed to our referral department at fax # (419) 483-5095.

A lumbar puncture is a medical procedure used to remove and test fluid from the spinal cord. The cerebrospinal fluid, which is crystal clear and looks like water, surrounds the brain and spinal cord and acts as a protective agent and supplies nutrition and also fights off infection. A lumbar puncture is usually performed in a hospital and only requires a brief stay of less than a day.

We are committed to excellence in electromyography (EMG), an important neurological test being performed at Advanced Neurological Associates. Before an EMG test is administered, the neurologist will conduct a focused neurological history and physical examination in order to customize the test to the patient's unique problem. Our neurologists answer key questions such as "Do the results adequately explain the patient's symptoms?" and "What additional neurological workup or testing is needed? "

We're thrilled to be offering you secure video visits. While we love it when you visit us in the office, we understand that it's not always convenient to do so. Video visits allow you to receive the same quality care as you do in the clinic, without taking time off work or finding a sitter to see us. Video visits are appropriate for many types of appointments, especially follow-up and medication questions. Ask your Neurologist to schedule your next appointment as a telemedicine visit!

Our Services

our physicians

Dr. Hassett is very thorough and I never feel rushed. If I ever did have to wait I absolutely would because I know another patient is getting the same great care.

In over 20 years of being treated by Dr. Benedict and his associates, I have always been treated with the most attentive and professional care. I’ve referred many friends with no hesitation. The absolute best!

The staff was very friendly and kind. We left with HOPE for finding out what is wrong with my husband.
